Baystate Medical Center (Tufts)

History

Baystate Medical Center (BMC), in Springfield, MA, is an academic, research, and teaching hospital and the first regional campus of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. (BMC's secondary affiliation is with Tufts). BMC is a 659-bed facility, and the ED sees over 115,000 visits per year. It is the only Level 1 trauma center in western Massachusetts, treating the most critical and urgent cases in the region. BMC is home to the second-busiest emergency department in Massachusetts.
