Central Michigan University College of Medicine

History

CMU College of Medicine graduate medical education programs build upon a long tradition of Saginaw physicians working with residents.

When CMU launched its medical school in 2009, it partnered with Saginaw-based Covenant HealthCare and St. Mary's of Michigan hospitals to work with residency programs that had been in place for more than 40 years.

Now graduates' medical education programs link to the overall mission of the CMU College of Medicine as it aims to be the authoritative source of physicians in underserved and rural areas of Michigan.

The CMU College of Medicine administrative offices for the residency program are located at 1000 Houghton Ave., in Saginaw, also home to CMU Health, one of our clinical locations that offers a variety of primary and specialty care services. It records more than 40,000 patient visits annually and maintain a medical library that acts as the health sciences library for the region.

The CMU College of Medicine manages five residencies and one fellowship program located at Covenant and St. Mary's, accredited through the ACGME.
