Description

Located in Philadelphia, Drexel is a three year residency, with 15 positions per year. Drexel combines a university site with multiple community sites, for a broad-based exposure to EM. Members of the faculty have written world renowned procedure books and toxicology literature. The program includes a strong emphasis on critical care, and is unique in running its own ICU.

History

Dr. David Wagner founded the residency in 1971, making it one of the oldest EM residencies in the country. Dr. Pamela Benson served as the first resident. Together they created a program based on the principle that Emergency Medicine is best learned in the Emergency Department at the hands of EM practitioners.
